Dignity

I don't know if this is a pet peeve or real issue because I have an emotional attachment. A gas pump employee in Mississauga was killed chasing a "pump and run" thief. As the price of gas rises so do these incidents. On the surface of the media reports it appears he's protecting the employer, Petro-Can. What is commonly not known is that he, the employee, pays the loss of income from that sale. So, in essence, one "pump and run" @ 1.38 litre could cost him a day's pay!
Now, that's a larger incentive to run after the car, isn't it? Why isn't that reported then? The government receives their tax, the oil company receives their profit, the thief, 'free fuel'.
What about the victim? No justice! He should receive, sorry his widow or survivors, compensation for a work related injury at least. This is the part I'm not sure of if it occurs or not.
LET'S AT LEAST PRETEND TO CARE ABOUT ONE ANOTHER! It doesn't cost a thing!
