There's a new book in town! DEFYING HITLER by Haffner is an interesting study of how Germans were lulled and scared into losing their civil liberties between WW1 and WW2. All the "enemies" of the state were at the gates threatening them!
Does it allude to our present situation? Some say yes, some regale it as preposterous! It really doesn't matter if it is or isn't. But if we can't ask the question there is something wrong!
Neither side will convince the other of their apparent folly. But, maybe just maybe, a moderate
policy of mutual respect will cultivate and bear fruit. That is if we are left to our own devices, and dare I say it, critical thought.
Some of the most pertinent aspects of life are almost sacrosanct and we are led to believe should not be asked. Why? Perhaps because the answer we'll formulate will not be the one that so eloquently fits within the official narrative.
Perception IS reality and as Goebbels and Hitler have stated, "the bigger the lie, the more it will believed.
