Not all of us are chemists or well versed in biology so we trust the safety of products. We do that because a government agency has been assigned to do the testing for us.
Well what do we do if they aren't doing exactly that? Basically, the industries involved are self policing. That's not a good thing. So, in the spirit of self preservation, we need to educate ourselves.
This is not to say that the alarmists are absolutely right either!
BUT WE DO NEED TO HAVE THE RIGHT TO DECIDE FOR OURSELVES!
